Welcome to The Society of Publishers in Ireland (SPI).

“Publishers are all cohorts of the devil. There must be a special hell for them somewhere” (Goethe)

Despite the above fact (undeniably true), we still thought it was a good idea to have a networking forum for Irish publishers. SPI is for all people working in the publishing and related industries in Ireland. Our aim is to organise events for publishing employees to meet socially, network, get industry news and attend events.

This is it. We hope you enjoy it.

Our last event was on Wednesday, Feburary 9, 2012 .  It was called SPI ♥ Books, and celebrated Valentines Day with a quiz about love, books and a few things more). We had a full house downstairs in the Stags Head, with 11 teams of 4 from a wide variety of publishing companies. We raised over €200 for the Irish Heart Foundation and established that Irish publishers are excellent at identifying kisses from movies but dreadful at recognising monuments photographed from obscure angles from capitals around the world. Emma Walsh did a superb job as MC and Ciara O’Connor is to be congratulated for suggesting the quiz and helping run it and collating the questions. Zoe Faulder, thanks for decorating and helping with the registration. It was great to see everyone! See Events page for photos
